The province of Quebec is the only one in Canada which is excluded from most competitions on the Internet. Competition management by the Quebec government is unique in Canada and of course very few observed in the United States. I guess the government to set up regulations and standards to protect people from scam artists and to offer a guarantee that the competitions are fair, equitable, and that prices will be well recovered in winner. But there are limits to own. I notice very often that the prices offered by the Quebec companies are smaller, simply to watch programs on TVA, V, etc.. Wow a big $ 200 after responding brilliantly to very specific questions or making a fool of oneself. English channel we give thousands of dollars to say we love the wave threesome!
I inquired a little about why it was put aside because of paranoia of the public protection. I found a site ( http://www.eplayaz.com/loi.htm ) explains very clearly the two reasons that discourage firms to make competition in Quebec. First, any company must register with the Liquor Control Board and pay a fee, to submit to strict regulation and even in some cases produce a bond. Then comes the cost that must be attached to the application of a competition. A Quebec company wishing to have a contest exclusively in Quebec, should pay 10% of the value of the price, it drops to 0.5% for the contest international. There is a fee to conduct bingo, raffles, lottery systems, amusement machines and licenses sports combat and costs can quickly seize.
As companies organize their desired course contests as they wish, they do not have to bury under the governmental paperwork (which as I know, must be quite difficult to complete without the presence of an accountant, a lawyer, a marketing representative, two secretaries, lark!), and of course have to pay to save one of their own product! I personally won a competition with Microsoft a few years ago, well after receiving my prize, I had to pay Customs charges, I practically had to pay the same price in stores, a real farce. There are ups placed who say they want to protect us and I think they have good intentions, but at what price?
It saddens me greatly and I wish the government relax regulations and allow Quebecers to have access like any other, brings the pleasure of being the winner of a contest worthy of the name !
